What type of guitar is right for me?
Three types of guitars are available - Here are the descriptions!
'Click' on the type you are interested in. Brands are below.

Classical Guitars Dreadnaught (Folk) Guitars Electric Guitars
Best Buy for Beginners! Great for the accomplished musician too.  Nylon strings are not hard on the fingers. They only need 2-4 lbs. of pressure to make great sounds.

The softer, mellow sound, is played with fingers instead of a pick. Some are available with an electronic pickup, or they can be added to existing guitars to add more volume.

These are a great guitars when you first learn to play, but will be a forever investment, as you will always use it.

Folk Guitars use Steel strings, and are NOT recommended for beginners.

They are good for experienced players that have developed greater hand strength.
They usually require 6-12 lbs. of pressure to produce a good sound.

They have a crisper, louder sound, and are usually played with a pick. Some are available with an electronic pickup, or a pickup can be added to existing guitars to add more volume.

Also available in 12 string models for a really FULL sound.

Electric guitars have light weight Steel strings. They usually require 3-5 lbs. of pressure to produce a good sound.

Beginners not wanting to play an Acoustic Guitar, can learn just as well on an Electric Guitar.

Played with fingers or with a pick. (Requires an electric amplifier to produce sound.) Added benefits are they are sometimes a one time investment as opposed to starting on a nylon string and adding an electric guitar later.
